Existing Assets and Pathways in Place to Engage Thousands in Mechatronics and Engineering Careers

• Virginia’s highly equipped Community Colleges train over 3,000 annually in mechatronics and industrial maintenance
• Most students participate in Community College mechatronics and related training tuition-free through Virginia’s G3 and FastForward programs
• Virginia Community Colleges offer two-year associate degrees in Engineering that enable students to apply their credits to university engineering degrees including electrical/computer engineering
• The Fab Lab at Northern Virginia Community College Manassas Campus was developed as part of a 2018 Micron Technology, Inc., expansion.  It provides support to the College’s engineering degree and hands-on STEM opportunities for college students, staff, and community members
• Regional high schools are equipped to engage students in mechatronics and industrial maintenance career training through industry credentialing and dual enrollment programs
